Before participating in a team sport at school, a player is required to complete a pre-participation physical examination, more commonly known as a “physical.” Urgent Care of Florida conducts sports and school physicals on-site for your convenience.
Goals of the Sport Physical
Sports physicals evaluate health, fitness level, risk of injury, and physical well-being. They are recommended for anyone taking part in a:
School or interleague sports program
Club sports team
New fitness regimen
A thorough sports physical allows a doctor to identify those conditions that might keep the athlete out of the game, or affect their performance.
The person may also be asked to fill out a medical history form that covers questions about serious family illnesses, hospitalizations, past injuries, and their overall health. If an issue is discovered, the physician and athlete can develop a plan of action to prep the athlete for competition.
